We estimate the cost of shutters for your windows by measuring the width and the height of your window in inches.

For square edge drywall corners and inside mounts we add one inch to each of these measurements. On bullnose drywall corners we add two inches to each measurement. We multiply the resulting width by height and divide by 144, rounding up or down to the nearest whole number. This gives us the number of square feet of your shutter (Windows under 8 square feet will be charged at the 8 square foot price).

Installation Is Included In The Price Specialty Shapes Are Priced Separately Specifications For Custom Wood Shutters Our shutters are built using of a furniture grade hardwood, Basswood (or Poplar). It is the best choice for painted, stained or sand blasted finishes. Basswood is an excellent material for shutter construction. It is a tight-grained wood with very small knots and no sap pockets. Lumber is a renewable resource. Basswood is one of the fastest growing species in North American forests.

As of 1997 it was growing three times faster than it was being harvested. Basswood dominates the shutter and blind industry due to its superior stability and light weight. All shutter panels are triple-doweled and glued in all four corners, replicating the techniques used in the construction of fine furniture. Adjoining panels are rabbeted to prevent light gaps. Outer hinges are mortised into the stile allowing approximately 1/16" space between the panels and hanging strips.

A tension control system is utilized so easy adjustments in louver tension can be made. Nylon pivot pins are used for years of smooth shutter operation. Heavy-duty staples attached to a hardwood tilt-rod help ensure that the staples won't come loose. Poplar is used for the tilt-rods because it is a denser, heavier wood than Basswood. It holds the shorter staples used on the tilt-rod better than the lighter woods. Primer is applied and hand sanded. Then high quality finish lacquer is applied to produce a superior finish. Stains and paint colors can be custom matched. A choice of frame styles: the "Classic" with a traditional beaded stile, the flush rail and the "Modern" featuring bullnose edges or our newest crown molding frames.

An arch detail on the top rail and decorative details on the rails and stiles can be added for a slight charge. Our shutters are professionally installed by our own employees.
